“Energy is the real substance behind the appearance of matter and forms.”
Dr. Randolph Stone

Think about the last time you fell and scraped your knee, or got a nasty paper cut. Did you deliberately set out to heal yourself? Recall the time a coworker walked into the room, and you felt drained or energized and couldn’t understand why. The answers lie within and without! You were experiencing “life energy” in its universal and infinite wisdom!

Polarity Therapy
is a comprehensive health system involving energy-based bodywork, diet, exercise and self-awareness. It works with the Human Energy Field, electromagnetic patterns expressed in mental, emotional and physical experience. In Polarity Therapy, health is viewed as a reflection of the condition of the energy field, and therapeutic methods are designed to balance the field for health benefit. Polarity Therapy was developed by Randolph Stone, DO, DC, ND (1890-1981), who conducted a thorough investigation of energy in the healing arts over the course of his 60 year medical career. Drawing information from a wide range of sources, he found that the Human Energy Field is affected by touch, diet, movement, sound, attitudes, relationships, life experience, trauma and environmental factors. Since Polarity Therapy lends an energy-based perspective to all these subjects, the scope of Polarity practice is often very broad, with implications for health professionals in many therapeutic disciplines. As a result, Polarity has strong, mutually supportive connections to many other holistic health systems.

Basic characteristics of the Human Energy Field are described in many sources, both ancient and modern. For example, the term “Polarity” refers to the universal pulsation of expansion/contraction or repulsion/attraction known as Yang and Yin in Oriental therapies. Similarly, Polarity integrates the “Three Principles and Five Chakras” of Ayurvedic tradition, and has been called the modern manifestation of ancient Hermetic Philosophy. At the same time Polarity Therapy also enjoys rich ties to modern science, which has confirmed its essential theme of energetic relationship as the basis of all phenomena.

The Application of Polarity Therapy
In the Polarity model, health is experienced when energy systems function in their natural state; energy flows smoothly without significant blockage or fixation. When energy is unbalanced, blocked or fixed due to stress or other factors, pain and disease arise. Blockages generally manifest in sequence from the subtle to the dense levels of the field. Polarity Therapy seeks to find the blockages and release energy to normal flow patterns, and to maintain the Energy Field in an open, flexible condition.

In a typical Polarity Therapy session, the practitioner assesses energetic attributes using palpation, observation and interview methods. Sessions can be 60 or 90 minutes, do not require disrobing, and involve both touch and verbal interaction. Touch contact may be light, medium or firm. In the session, the practitioner supports the client in increasing self-awareness of subtle energetic sensations, which are often experienced as tingling, warmth, expansion or wavelike movement. The results of Polarity Therapy sessions vary, and may include profound relaxation, new insight into energetic patterns and their implications, and relief from numerous specific problematic situations.

In the healing arts, Polarity Therapy is special in its comprehensive exploration of multiple dimensions of the human condition, and in its effective bridging of the full spectrum of experience, including body, mind and spirit. Applying the Polarity Therapy system can take diverse forms, always based on the underlying intention to support the client’s inherent self-healing intelligence as expressed in its energetic patterns.

This method will become one of the premier wellness modalities for the 21st century” APTA

Rebecca has been trained in RYSE (Realizing Your Sublime Energies) which is inclusive in her polarity sessions. RYSE is the revolutionary personal energy management training developed by Nancy Risley of Spa Tech Institute. This is the only program that offers RYSE as part of the curriculum.

RYSE gives the professional practitioner a skill set for managing their own energy to attain higher levels of awareness and clarity, a fundamental requirement for long term success as a Polarity Therapist.                          www.ryse.com

History of Polarity Therapy
Randolph Stone published his first work in 1947, and by 1954 had completed the seven books which contain his published findings. In his medical practice in Chicago, he applied the energy approach in a wide range of conditions and experienced remarkable success with patients. He began to teach in the 1960’s and finally retired in 1974, at the age of 84. Following his retirement, many of Stone’s students continued to research and apply his teachings. By 1984, a core group of advanced practitioners gathered to launch a national organization, the American Polarity Therapy Association, to support the continuation and expansion of the work. The annual conference of the new association immediately became a key forum for the exchange and dissemination of new understanding, a role which continues today greater than ever. In 1989, APTA published the Polarity Therapy Standards for Practice, creating a consensus statement of the scope and content of Polarity Therapy, and setting the foundation for the registration of practitioners and Approved Trainings. Shortly thereafter, APTA also produced its Code of Ethics and created administrative functions to support the growth of Polarity Therapy. In 2003, APTA published the Standards for Practice and Education, 4th edition, which establish the minimum requirements for Approved Trainings relevant to Program Administration.

Polarity Therapy today enjoys a steadily increasing usage worldwide. The concept of energy in the healing arts has been validated repeatedly, numerous books and new resources have made study easier and more efficient, and the practice of Polarity Therapy has become ever more diverse and sophisticated.

      3 principles

3 Vibratory Principles in Polarity Therapy
All life is an expression of energy in motion, and that energy emerges from and returns to a central unified source of life energy. Energy in the body is a manifestation of the cyclic journey of spirit: from its cosmic unified source, into the duality of the physical realm, and back to its source.

This theme is further developed with the concept of unity and neutrality and the creation of the polarized opposite forces of attraction and repulsion. These two forces, in turn, follow the blueprint inherent within their source as they mutually interact to weave the fabric of manifest life. Consequently, all forms and processes are generated from within the universal source of life energy, and are expressions of that life energy in motion.

The theory is further delineated with the formation of the three primary principles of motion as Sattva, the neutral Airy Principle, Rajas, the positive Fiery Principle, and Tamas, the negative Watery Principle. These three principles set the stage for energy to manifest as five discreet qualities or steps, characterized by the five elements of Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.

By virtue of these elements, the physical human body is created. The body is a composite of the interaction of the five elements (which are electromagnetic in nature) in the physical domain. The body, then, is an electromagnetic energy system expressing the dynamic interplay of the five elements from their most subtle to their most dense forms. Each form manifests a unique anatomy, with the most subtle form expressed as a “wireless” circuitry directing the flow of energy in its etheric state. Thus are created not only all aspects of the body, but also the totality of human expression, described by Dr. Stone as the Pentamirus combination of the elements.

Healing and disease are processes that can be described in energetic terms. Generally, healing and health are attributes of energy flowing in its natural and unobstructed state, while disease is a reflection of energy in an obstructed condition in one or more of its several levels of manifestation.

In addition the life process can be described as states of energy stepping down, as in the case of disease, and stepping up, as in the case of healing, through the five elemental states of Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth. The five states of energy are defined by the quality of energy motion through the “wireless” circuits of the body.

Ether is seen as the manifestation of a free, uninterrupted energy flow, experienced as a state of freedom of expression, creativity, movement and health. As energy becomes blocked in its pathway of motion back to its energy center in the body, the body experiences varying states of ill health, or disease. These states, varying from mental and emotional disturbance, to acute physical inflammation, to chronic illness, and finally to full degeneration, are characterized by energetic states corresponding to the four step down elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth, respectively.

As disease is regarded as the effect of energy being disrupted in its flow, healing is seen as the process of releasing the obstructions to the free flow of energy so that it may fully reconnect with its source. Consequently, a return to physical health is the reconnection of energies in the body with their respective centers or sources.

This relationship between health and energy connecting with its source is expanded to include any system. That is, the health of any system is dependent upon its full, undisrupted connection with its source. With this understanding, the underlying principle of Polarity Therapy emerges as the idea of “reconnection to a source” and pertains to each facet of the work. This includes establishing reconnections to sources of energy in the body, in nature, in interpersonal and societal relationships, and within oneself, to the source of life energy itself. Health is considered in its larger context beyond just the body, recognizing the interconnectedness of all things to each other and to a unified central source of life energy.

Polarity Realization Institute, Inc. on Sound Therapy & Vocal Toning

Current Sound Environment, Sound Stress
“Sound in day to day life can be very debilitating and many people are effected by it without even knowing it. The constant drones of machine and lighting noises do not give the body a chance to rest and causes fatigue and loss of function. Whether it is in a building, a vehicle, or outside, unrelenting sounds disturb the body and energy field on all levels.

Theories of Sound Therapy
The ancients began their study of sound in relation to the basis of sound being the thing that created the universe. In the Beginning, there was the Word. All cultures that we know of have sound as the beginning of their legacy.

Physicists are now exploring the concept of the ‘Super String’ which is an organizing vibration at the heart of matter as it is understood at this time.

All of matter is vibrating. All of energy is measured in wave form which is a vibration. Light and sound are energy wave forms. If you think of the body as a condensed form of energy that has stepped down into physical or dense form, then you can see how the controlled use of vibrations can be used to rearrange the body on physical and energetic levels.

There is a pattern of the body tissues and energy fields that matches the blueprint. Blockages show up as changes in the patterns. By using the controlled vibrations of sound, the original patterns can be restored through entrainment.

Tones. Single pure tones have very specific wave patterns that when seen on a sound board with sand, produces patterns that are similar to structures in the body. These patterns can be used to restore order on a cellular level.

Drones. Multiple tones combined that produce many overtones and harmonics that create more tones. Drones create a base of healing sound that can hook in with whatever sounds are needed. Drones can also produce pulsations of longer duration that create deeply meditative states through  brainwave entrainment.

Rhythms. Rhythms create pulses of longer duration that can be used to bring order to chaos and structure the energies on longer intervals and time frames.

Uses in Practice. All sound therapy depends primarily on the concept of entrainment. Entrainment is when one moving or vibrating body, energy or particle, is brought into alignment with the vibration of the others around it.

Polarity Theory and Sounds
In Polarity we have the model of how energy steps down from the source through various vibrations until it manifests as dense matter.

We know that light and sound repeat a similarity to themselves on higher octaves at certain intervals. In sound when two sounds repeat on different frequencies at exactly double the rate, it is called an octave. If you think of this process as a spiral of vibrations that repeat on higher frequencies then you can get a sense of how there is a repeating pattern to the octaves of vibration. This spiral would be like looking at the DNA helix as it spirals upward with the same note coming forward at a specific interval.

In color the same is true as you go from the primary colors to the pastels. There are also vibrations outside our perceptive range such as infra red and ultra violet as well as sub sonic sound and ultra sound. However, the vibrations in between are all possible even though they are not perceived by us.

The important thing about this concept is the way that light, sound, energy fields, etc., overlap with the aura and chakras and that we live in a vibrational continuum. From this we can see how sound is simply another denser form of light and that other is a whole spectrum which can be influenced by the conscious use of other parts of the spectrum.

The key to all this work is the clear aligned consciousness of the practitioner who is focusing the vibrations in the appropriate way to bring the body system to its highest potential. This focus of intention gives the practitioner a very broad base for using vibrations in healing and in effect gives you the ability to use whatever will work without feeling restricted by any particular system or model created by anyone else.

Voice. The voice is the first and last instrument of sound. It is so profound because it is totally unique to each individual. The voice is made of the diaphragm, lungs, all the internal organs, the throat, voice box, the entire mouth, and the head. The voice can resonate with the entire body because it is composed of the same stuff. It also can listen for the sounds required because of resonant frequencies. The voice is used in chanting and repeating mantras or prayers. It resonates in the being on all levels. It is also tied to the breath which is the foundation of life.

G – throat chakra
F – heart chakra
E – third (solar plexus) chakra

C – base/root chakra

Other Sound Sources and the Element Theory
There are several particularly interesting aspects of working with sound. It appears that sound acts on the elements of the body through the nervous system, directly on the cells, through the Polarity elements via the Ether element, and on the subtle body directly. It acts on all of these levels through entrainment.

Through the nervous system the message of the vibration of the sounds sets up a frequency that is communicated to the subtle energy patterns of the body. Certain mediums such as tuning forks are more effective due to the sympathetic quality of the nerve composition with the metal forks. Other metal tone generators such as bells, chimes, gongs, etc., also resonate more with this quality of the body. For this reason a very nervous system dominant person and also third eye and solar plexus blocked person seems to resonate more with these mediums.

Other tones can connect directly with the cells given the complementary nature of the tone producing instrument.Quartz Crystal bowls seem to work more on connective tissue blocks including the fascia, muscles, and organs as well as all other silicon concentrations, the earth principle in the body and the subtle energy fields. Carbon and wooden based instruments seem to activate more of the carbon and fire in the body. Wind instruments seem to connect heavily with the air element. Metal seems to connect with the earth elements. The water phone ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foSJstDFDfg ) , a very odd instrument, appears to work well with the water element as well as some wooden flutes.

Through the subtle elements and through ether in particular, most tones from any source will be beneficial. The ether element is the element that the other four elements spring from. Ether is also related to the throat and also the hearing. For this reason you can see why the conscious use of the voice is so powerful. Besides being made up of all of the elements, it is also the seat of the ether and therefore it can access all the elements quite easily.”

  1. Not often do I encounter a weblog that is both educated and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is excellent; the issue is something that not sufficient individuals are speaking intelligently about. I am very happy that I stumbled across this in my quest for something relating to this.
